System Data - Adding New Web Category's

How to add a web category.

Once product manager is running, click on ‘System Data’.

Next, wait for the data to be downloaded from the website.

You should then be taken to a screen which will display a number of customisable items within the application.

Web Categories is the first section on the left at the top of the screen.
Here you will see a list of the existing web categories that are currently on the website.
In this instance we’re going to be adding a new category.
Click on the add new button at the top right hand corner of this section.

On the next screen you will be prompted to enter some basic information about the category that you are about to add.

As a bare minimum, enter a Navigation Title, and Display title.
However its also good practice to enter a short description in the Description field and also a Meta Title and Description, which is very important for SEO on your website.
By default, the show on website box will be checked, however if you want you new category to appear in the navigation menus on the website, you will need to tick the ‘Show on Navigation’ check box as well.

Once you have finished adding details, click on upload changes at the top to save you’re changes.

On the next screen you will need to define weather you’re category is a new base category, or a sub category of another existing category.

If you wish you’re new category to be a base category, select base category in the first selection box.

If you wish you’re new category to a child of an existing category, then select that here. In the example below, the new category will be a child of ‘Cricket Bats’

Categories can have many layers to them. In the example below, my new category will be added as a child of ‘Adidas’

Once you are happy with you’re selections, click on ‘Save Category’ at the top.

In order to save you’re changes to the website, click on the home button in the top left hand corner of the screen.

You will then see an acknowledgement that you’re changes have been saved.
